KAREN ORMAN
FLORIS, IOWA

Karen Orman was born and raised on the family farm in rural Floris, Iowa. Her love of the sport of rodeo and barrel racing grew from a young age. Through the years, Karen trained colts and competed in barrel racing, pole bending, steer undecorating reining, and the other western events. For many years she put her barrel racing goals and dreams on hold to haul her children, Stacie Orman Baumann and Marc Orman to Little Britches and High School Rodeos as well as her niece Melissa Durham Ostrander and her grandson Dalton Baumann. Then a very special gray mare named Gevah came into her life and her barrel racing dreams unfolded again. Throughout the years, Karen competed on notable horses such as Gevah, Crystal Three Jets, Belle Is Ringing, Boomer, Iris Crimson, Luck O The Iris, Could Do Too aka Turtle and Dalts Superman Design aka Doodle. At 75 years young she continues to chase the barrel racing dream competing at barrel races across the country.
